To gain audience feedback my group created a two questionnaires, one to gain feedback on the teaser trailer, and one to gain feedback on the ancillary tasks.
The group of people that filled out our questionnaires were 16-18 years old, and the majority of them were male, with only 4 out of the 23 people that pariticipated being female. This is generally quite reflective of the target audience of our project which would be 16-25 year old males.
The feedback that my group gained from the questionnaires was generally very positive, there were also criticisms made that were constructive and will help my group build on our skills.
VIDEO FEEDBACK:
Question: Do you think the product is similar of a film teaser trailer?
Answer: Only one of the people who answered our questionnaire found that the product wasn't typical of a film teaser trailer, this person commented that the trailer didn't 'give enough clues into what happens' in the film. However, all the other participants said that the product was typical of other teaser trailers. The majority of the audience said that the trailer doesn't give too much of the narrative away, but just enough to hook them and get them interested in the film. They also commented that the music, shots and titles used in the trailer are typical of professional trailers and that the genre of the film is potrayed clearly and effectively in the trailer.
Question: Does anything make it different or does is stand out from other typical products?
Answer: We gained some varied feedback for this question, 8 people said that there were differences from other typical products, and 5 people said that there were no differences.
The difference that most people pointed out was the music. They commented that it was different to what would be used in a typical product, but that it was very effective in creating an eerie atmospehere in the trailer. Other differences that were commented on were the use of point of view shots and voyeuristic camera angles. When asked whether they felt that these differences worked within the trailer, all of the answers were yes.
Question: Name two interesting/impressive elements from the video.
Answer: Some examples of the answers we gained from this question were the soundtrack, use of shadows, contact lenses, colour filters, zoom shot into eyes, use of close ups, mise en scene, proffessional-looking titles, amount of mystery created and the point of view shot of the creature running to the bus stop.
Question: Could this product be stronger?
Answer: The most common answer we gained from this question was that we needed to shoot the trailer in a wider range of locations. However, 4 of the people that filled in the questionnaires answered no and that they didn't think there were any improvements to be made.
Question: Do you think the editing and colour filters create a style typical of this type of product?
Answer: All of the participants answered yes to this question. They commented that the editing and colour filters created an eerie and mysterious atmosphere and that they also conveyed the genre of the product effectively.
ANCILLARY TASKS FEEDBACK:
I am going to present the feedback we gained for our ancillary tasks in lists showing the strengths and weaknesses that were pointed out by the participants in their answers:
Poster
Strengths
Scary
Eyes are effective in creating fear
Creates engimas
Colour scheme
Weaknesses
Could have a bit more information
Looks a bit bare
Magazine Cover
Strengths
Colour scheme
Authentic Fonts
Looks authentic
Back pictures in black & white looks good
Weaknesses
The font of 'A Must See' looks a bit out of place
Could have more effects put onto the images
Costumes could be better
As you can see, according to the participants, there are more strengths than weaknesses in both cases, therefore this feedback was very positive.
